On behalf of Students for Minority Outreach we would like to welcome you!

Mission Statement: 

To promote JMU as a progressive and ethnically diverse university. To foster a balance between leadership, social and academic development. Also, to help coordinate programs that encourage students of color to attend JMU and to increase the awareness of minority life at JMU.

Hometown: Chesapeake, Virginia
Major: Psychology and Cultural Communications/Family Studies
Year: Senior
How do you feel about diversity on JMU's Campus? It could be better but JMU is definitely making an effort and everyone can see that. We have made much progress and SMO will continue to work diligently to promote diversity as well as fostering leadership among students.  Our goal is to make JMU an option through educational awareness and by doing so I am confident that we will significantly increase diversity across campus.
